The Walk To The Bridge For Frankie’s Kids

Join us September 15, 2012 on the Walk To The Bridge For Frankie’s Kids in support of pediatric cancer.

Camille Loccisano, a dear friend lost her son Frankie at the young age of 17. Camille’s foundation in memory of Frankie helps families whose children are suffering from pediatric cancer. All the proceeds from this event will go directly to the children and their families who are facing childhood cancer. Last year they helped 40 individual families. Pediatric cancer is something that is near and dear to my heart and I wanted to share Frankie’s story with you in hope that you support their foundation and the upcoming fundraiser The Walk To The Bridge for Frankie’s Kids this September.

About the WALK:

The fun-filled event takes place on Saturday, September 15, 2012 beginning at the 69th street pier in Bay Ridge all the way to the Verrazano Bridge.

On this day, with every step you walk, you will directly help a child who is battling cancer. We welcome everyone to lace up your shoes and walk together as a community for children with cancer.

We will begin with pre-walk and warm- up festivities. Everyone, of EVERY age is invited to walk, obtain sponsors and have a great time! You can walk solo, with a friend or even create your own team of family and friends.

About Frankie:

This coming September of 2012 marks five years that Frankie Loccisano lost his life to cancer.

Frankie was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest of three brothers. A leader from an early age, he enjoyed popularity among his many friends and he loved to play sports. A very bright student, he attended Xaverian High School where he studied in their prestigious IB Honors Program with a goal toward attending Princeton University.

A lover of the political arena and a talented creative writer, Frankie was an avid novel reader and he enjoyed the fine works of great authors. The NY Yankees and NY Giants were his teams. He loved Robert Deniro films, online role-play and Friday night card games with his buddies. He enjoyed a good and fair political debate, and he was an extremely articulate speaker. Studying law and practicing as a public prosecutor was a very serious goal for him. He also had thoughts of entering into a political career in his later years. He was a tremendous advocate of civil rights and human dignity. His political views were moderate and his oft repeated words were “Depends on the issue!”

At the age of 14, Frankie was diagnosed with bone cancer and then leukemia, he endured extremely invasive treatments, countless surgeries, and constant procedures during a span of 27 months. Through it all, Frankie demonstrated an unmatched courage and an indomitable and prayerful spirit. As an older pediatric patient, he greatly understood the enormity of what it meant to be so young and fighting for life instead of enjoying life. It is in this spirit and in Frankie’s memory that his foundation carries out its important mission. So important was this mission to Frankie, that they were among the last words he communicated to his family and friends.

Now, in his name and memory, we will raise funds and awareness to help families and children who are fighting the same illness. Join us and help to make a real and true difference!
